I Know

I know what it is like to play an instrument, I play the violin. Playing an instrument has inspired me to look at music in a whole new way because I can connect with the music I'm playing whether it's a sad song or a happy one, I can just play one or the other depending on what mood I'm in.

My dad said that when I grow old and when I am alone I”m going to get out my violin and play it, he said that playing my violin would give me a sense of comfort and that the music I was playing would speak to me in a way that words never would. I have not gotten to that point yet but I know that my dad is right because even now when I play my violin I feel like I am expressing myself through it. I play the violin along with my older sister Patty and my younger brother Arthur.

At first I didn’t want to play the violin, I even begged my parents not to take me to classes but eventually I learned how to love and cherish it. You can call me crazy but I feel like learning how to play an instrument is like learning a new language that only a few other people can speak. When I attended my first concert I was very nervous but as I played my music I totally forgot about the crowd and I was hypnotized with the sound of music that was coming from my violin. My parents are very proud of my siblings and I, and they hope that we practice our violin more so we get even better at it.
